Not long ago I hadn't considered using something like a 200mm lens for close focus/almost macro photos. I am a convert.

Also some moon above the trees, waves a-breaking, and some dramatic sunlight with dark moody rainstorm cloud behind.

A close up of kelp (seaweed) on a rocky foreshore, with foaming whitewater in the background. The sunlight shines through the wide leaves highlighting the patterns and texture. A vertical column of whitewash at right seems to hang suspended, catching the light behind. Tiny particles of spray are scattered across the image.
A wave crashing over a rock next to the shoreline, the force reflecting the power and sending the spray backwards. The shoreline looks like one large piece of weathered rock, which curves around a point. Tree lined hills fill the horizon across the bay at right.

I studied biology, so the macro world isn't foreign to me, but then a macro lens opens up a new world. And also make for a good lens overall too.
