The Last Fishing Pier at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The Oceanana pier is seen in this fine art photograph.

@BobD I grew up in that area and I remember Several Piers between Carolina Beach all the way up to Atlantic Beach. I took a nasty "face plant" surfing near that pier as a teen.

@Alchemist_Final They're disappearing quickly. In Carteret county only Oceanana at Atlantic Beach and Bogue Inlet Pier at Emerald Isle remain.

@BobD I remember going to all at one time or another. The Iron Steamer was very interesting.

@Alchemist_Final the pier is gone, turned into a beach access area between condos. Of course the old steamer still sits out in the surf.

@BobD It Figures. Carteret County has turned into a big tourist trap. There was nothing in Beaufort and barely anything in Morehead in the1970s. Now it's wall to wall people.

@BobD
Atlantic Beach is heaven on the East Coast.
