Trail cam photo of the unusual House Finch that visited us yesterday. Instead of being bright red and brown, this guy is pink, brown, and white due to a plumage mutation.

Happy New Year's Day. Some people spent it at the beach.

So did I. 📷👍😎

Happy New Year! Yesterday, on the last day of the year, I saw my first Snowy Owl of the year. The owl had been hanging around the airport and it took me five visits to finally find him.

Thanks to meteorologist Jeff Porter for showing my photo of a Pine Siskin visiting our brave and battered feeder on Jeff's morning weather report for WWMT-Channel 3, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Hope I'm not spamming, but @kemonine somehow reminded me of these pics from an abandoned Brickyard from my hometown area in rural Newfoundland

'Middlehope Autumn Afternoon'

I took this picture towards the end of a walk on Sandpoint this afternoon and am sharing with you; especially those who don't have much of view from where they are. I wish you all good light.

@BobTarte Thanks for 'favs&likes' I very much appreciate them.

A Pine Siskin just visited our feeder. Last fall/winter we didn't see one until late January. Most years we don't get them at all. (Michigan, USA)

I hope to see some Snowy Owls again this winter. Here's one from November 2017 at Muskegon Wastewater System, sitting on the side of gravel road.

Goedemorgen!

Unusual tri-colored sand, Van Buren State Park beach, southwestern Michigan. First year I've ever seen it at this beach.

Colored sand at Van Buren State Park beach in southern Michigan. The black is from the mineral “magnetite” and the red is from the mineral “hematite.”

Quick and inky shield bug. Copied from a photo I took earlier in the week.
