Most of Dartmoor's mining was surface based but...there are a few places where the mines run underground. They're fascinating, the minerals stain the walls, they're generally full of water, a couple of degree colder than the outside temperature and you really get a sense of looking into the underbelly of the Moor.

@Hinterlands I tried to find out more about those workings we passed on our night walk but not found anything so far. I reckon it was definitely underground spoil though.
