Falls of Dochart

Mid-June, and the river banks are lush and green. This old tree, still alive and thriving, made a perfect frame for my shot of the top rapids.

The river’s source is the 1130 metres of the Munroe Ben Lui, the water flows 21 km east from Loch Dochart and into Loch Tay.

A colour photo of a river, running into the scene at the bottom left and disappearing around a rocky corner near the centre of the shot. At lower left, the river is turbulent, showing the colour of peat in its whitened water. The rocky riverbanks are green with trees, shrubs and low-growing plants and one large tree with its roots at the bottom right is bent across the top of the picture, forming a natural arch with it's rough-barked trunk. On the right are a few pretty cottages with a cloudy blue sky above.
