The other day I got a Swift Searcher Model 839 with the camera adapter and case at a auction for a really good price. Last night I got to try shooting the moon. Here is the results
Camera: Canon T3i - Lens Swift Searcher 20x40x60mm (1400mm) - using the 20x eyepiece - f22 - ISO 100
Second shot using the 40x eyepiece 2700mm - f45 I couldn't get the whole moon in the frame.
Has anyone else ever used a spotting scope with their camera? If so what do you think of them?
I thought I'd share my quick, evening, walk in Ashcombe Park, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, UK, with you all.
I had with me a Nikon D3 & Nikkor 24-85mm. Hand held shot with the light failing fast.
A calming half hour spent with an iconic camera all the same. 📷👍😎
My profile pic is from a trip I went on to Antarctica when I was in grad school. I went with my advisor and Doug Prose, a documentary maker (Earth Images Foundation) to shoot footage for a piece on geology and climate change. I set up a tripod on this trip out to the Allan Hills (a location where some famous meteorites have been discovered on the blue ice) and we took some jumping photos, me and Doug.

This composition struck me because of the contrast between the modern architecture of the National Museum of Scotland and the ancient architecture of Edinburgh Castle.
