Four photos from this morning, 3 of the moon, the 4th was trying to see how a star would look. Amazing to me you can see the apparent motion of the stars after only 25 seconds!

Because we ran out of space in the parent toot...

"Previously" means we've removed that bullet point and it's gone.

We WELCOME users looking for a new home.

Previously our instance (photog.social) had a bullet point that sated "No Porn".

This was a bad choice on our part as we fully support and more.

"Porn" is very subjective and with the people coming from Tumblr was likely very off putting / disingenuous.

Nevermind our willingness to boost content behind Sensitive Media flags and CWs historically.

Thank you to all of our new Tumblr users and the broader federverse for bringing this up and working with us.

The parent toot was re-drafted to make it clear we're talking about photog.social users...

Sorry for any confusion!

Some of the shots from inside the cave system we explored today. These are all from the Chifley Cave system in the Jenolan Caves, west of Sydney, Australia.

All shot with a Canon EOS 1DX and Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye.

We went to the Jenolan Caves today and on the way back to the car, I spied a couple of Superb Lyrebirds (one male, one female). The male was making interesting noises (as the do). I followed them up into the bush and then came across this adorable Rock Wallaby.

Ducks feeding in a marsh pond. The last time I was here, the entire marsh had dried out for summer. After a couple of fall rainstorms (which, if they'd come sooner, night have at least cut down on the massive wildfires last month), parts of the marsh have flooded again for winter.

I was halfway there before I realized I hadn't brought the film camera, but I at least had the Canon, which has a more powerful zoom anyway.

I think one thing to be cautious about when recommending Mastodon to people from Twitter/Tumblr is how networks in masto/fediverse work. I don't think many people will be expecting that a thread that they see on their feed differs from the thread that people on the source instance see. Or that it would differ from the thread that their friend on another, different instance would see. If people are not made aware of these nuances I imagine they will become confused and/or upset.
