Pinned post

Hi! I'm Brook. I shoot recreationally, and have been photoing for like 3 decades now. These days, mostly digital sets of my outdoor adventures, on a lumix (when I'm trying to shave weight and bulk), or a nikon dslr, but I've also got a couple of film cameras that I take out from time to time. Totally into nerding out about gear, techniques, chemistries, etc.

I just got back from a trip to Iceland and am still processing photos from it, it was fantastic. Here's a mushroom:

throwback thursday --

My profile pic is from a trip I went on to Antarctica when I was in grad school. I went with my advisor and Doug Prose, a documentary maker (Earth Images Foundation) to shoot footage for a piece on geology and climate change. I set up a tripod on this trip out to the Allan Hills (a location where some famous meteorites have been discovered on the blue ice) and we took some jumping photos, me and Doug.

More from yesterday's scramble. A stitched 2-image panorama of the Druid Plateau, below the Cannon Mtn summit. The enchantment Range is just behind the clouds that were lifting through the day

Hey, who is shooting medium format and what do you shoot with? Asking because I want to shoot medium format again. I used to have a Yashica TLR, was thinking about getting another TLR but wondering if maybe I should try like a 645 or something different. Thoughts, opinions, shots, etc.?

Selfie, Cannon Peak summit

I was in the Enchantments (WA, USA) yesterday scrambling Cannon Peak. I brought Totoro with me. More photos soon when I process them, but here is phone selfie from the summit.

Sunrise from a boat looking pretty good right now. On the ferry to Orcas Island

Rainier National Park earlier today. Mountain was in the clouds, but it was a gorgeous day

big cairns mark the old road, here 1 is dirt and gravel. It crosses a pass and descends toward Breiðdalsvík (Iceland)

more Iceland... This of the volcanic barren landscape on 1 east of Mývatn. Big pano stitched from a bunch of images using Hugin.

Still slowly processing Iceland . Made it halfway through; here's shots from Hverarond, boiling mud and sulfurous steam
