I found a cool lacewing/something? on a grass stalk in the backyard and went and fetched the camera and macro kit. While out there I also came across a tiny tiny grasshopper (1.5cm) and some other sort of green grasshopper thing (similar size) and a shiny dolichopodid fly (who doesn't like the ETTL pre-flash, and thus jumps, but I was expecting that).


Ah I love iNaturalist for IDs. Only posted the lacewing type thing about 10 mins ago, and already have an ID.

A member of the pit-trapping Antlion family apparently. (so not a lacewing).


@david iNat is getting pretty good at suggesting IDs, especially for those species with lots of photos.
