Brief moments with nature at it's wildest. Sometimes that's a snow storm, sometimes an aurora storm.
Gotta be ready for anything in the north.
Icy light at the end of the day. Well, 2pm is the end of the daylight here :)
Stunning purple skies today, but the clouds came in before the aurora could line up with the purple hues.
Sometimes the colours up here in winter are just ridiculous. This morning we got a glimpse of the pre-dawn colours outside the cabins.
I actually dialled down the saturation because it looks too intense for any reasonable person to believe it's real.
By lunchtime the bright glow in the south was starting to peak. We're a little early for the sun to make it over the horizon, and yet the landscape still shines with the most gentle light bending through the sky.
It's been a pretty awesome day. Making friends with reindeer, meeting some amazing Sami folk, and finished the day with king crab pasta back at the cabin.
No photos of the pasta sorry!
Chased a few mountains yesterday. Good times :) This was a pano stitch with my 100mm lens, because I was too lazy to pack a 50mm this trip!
@ewen
i believe it. once you have seen a winter sunset or sunrise over Oslofjord, you know that the Scream by Munch was very accurate. This picture is from my phone, but it's pretty much how it looked (Dec. 8). Sometimes it's just magical.
@ewen Lovely shot!
@ewen @jfk Nice. I looked at that photo and thought #SilentSunday
