I struggled a lot to set fine AF tuning on my with my 2 prime lenses ( 35mm f/1.8 DX G and 50mm f/1.8 G). Here are my settings for the 35mm lens. I'm wondering why are lenses so out of misaligned ? I had here do apply -17 in addition to default -20 value. I tested this lens on my daughter's DSLR and there is no AF problem (despite there is no fine AF tune feature on it). How could we explain this ? On my D7200, is this due to my very demanding 24 MP ?

@jerome_herbinet_pix The "default" setting is what's used for lenses that haven't got a specific value saved for them (so it's used for lenses without a saved for value). What caused you to set -20 as a default?

Are you using a calibration chart (with a vertical target and sloping indicators) to determine the AF accuracy?

Were you testing in the same conditions on the D90 (similar light, aperture, subject distance)?

@furlined default value is necessary because the saved value is actually and sadly not enough. Both values can be cumulated. I used the following calibration chart, at a distance equal to 50x the focal length, on a tripod. The D90 tests were made in the same conditions.
