Out of the corner of my eye I saw movement in the swamp water, but I couldn't tell if it was a snake... At least, not at first. As this little cutie swam closer my wife and I were surprised that this hatchling was swimming. We don't know much about alligator behavior, but we had just came across the nest with several other hatchlings, so we both had thought she would have stayed with the nest, or at least closer than this one was. The little alligator seemed to be swimming back to the nest, and it was so light on her feet that she seemed to be walking on top of the flowers as much as she was swimming.
