Trying out #infrared #photography at the beach (Spiekeroog island, North Sea, East Frisia, Germany).
Looks like visiting planets in an early release of #NoMansSky

A Crimson Rosella, on the perching stick in the backyard, the other day when I was tending to the pizza oven.

A wood found in Kinver, South Staffordshire, in January.

Sadly, my memory of 2020 itself is all just a blur at this point, what with COVID-19 affecting a lot of the UK, but I do know that I enjoyed my walk here.

Fortunate to see a sun halo while out walking after lunch. It was a full circle and an amazing sight.

Some spotted the other day while hiking. A gulf fritillary (orange), some kind of blue, possibly a marine blue (tiny with brown wings and a blue body), and possibly a cloudless sulphur (yellow).

The blues are always hard to spot because they're so small, and the sulphurs just don't want to pause most of the time. But the fritillaries are more willing to stop, and there were SO MANY of them at the gardens on Monday.

Happy to spot this Sapphire Flutterer (Rhyothemis triangularis) at MacRichie Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 6 Sept 2021. Almost overlooked it among all the other fluttering dragonflies in the area.

The Sapphire Flutterer is an uncommon dragonfly with unmistakable blue patches on its wings.

Twisted tree and canopy. The tipu trees near the old office never sprawled like this. Or didn't have the chance to, more likely.

Good evening.

A fox in a highway parking lot. He seemed to have learned to take food from others.

Today let's shift the focus to the colourful #mandarinduck. Although most people know the male, which is no surprise given its bright plumage, I wanted to get a shot of the female. They are smaller and have mostly brown/grey plumage, but I think they too deserve some time in the spotlight. Although I didn't do too well, I just could not get the male to move out of the shot...

Probably my favourite shot of the day. The High Spy and Maiden Moor ridge, with its western flanks dropping sheer to the valley floor in a series of crags. In the distance, the Skiddaw range. Incredible.

A female Striped Albatross (Appias libythea) spotted feeding at the Sungei Tengah area, Singapore, on 21 Aug 2021. Common in the area, but sometimes tricky to shoot when they are active.

The Striped Albatross is a sexually dimorphic species of butterfly. The males have similar patterns, but are mostly white.

A few birds spotted from the veranda this morning in the space of about 10 mins.

One of our usual Pied Currawongs, who was being attacked by Bell Miners (the yellowy bird on the wire). A male Satin Bowerbird way off on top of a palm tree, and the male King Parrot that has been visiting recently.

I went to the same park again today. I spotted a Fox Squirrel eating a pine cone in a tree elsewhere in the park, and a California Ground Squirrel standing guard outside the enclosure's chain link fence.

Seriously, it. did. not. move. for several minutes while another ground squirrel ran inside the fence and waited, and I moved to a better angle for photos, until it abruptly turned around and ran through or under the fence.
