After a full day of waling we reached Colonnata. The town was indeed pretty, the people warm-hearted and the food, finally, plentiful. But we were left speechless in knowing how well regarded the marble industry is among the residents. The constant drilling and explosions, the pollution due to stone cutting and transport, the hydrogeological damage are blatant and huge impacts on the quality of life in the province. Yet no criticism was directed at the extraction activity.
