Spotted this Tawny Coster (Acraea terpsicore) resting on the wall near my workplace in Jurong East, Singapore, on 24 March 2021. It didn't move when I put my mobile phone next to it, letting me take this close shot.

An Elbowed Pierrot (Caleta elna) spotted at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 21 March 2021. Good to get shots of this butterfly after seeing it there a few times in the past.

Here's an occasional plant post. Cratoxylum maingayi, a member of St. John's Wort family of plants, spotted flowering at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 21 March 2021. It stood out in a sea of green plants.

The plant is native to Singapore and is Critically Endangered.

Spotted a little fairy with walking at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 21 March 2021. 🙂 Okay, it's a Fairy Moth: Nemophora decisella. But it looked like a fairy as it moved about while taking the shots.

Some of the 6 King Parrots on the veranda this morning. All shot with a 100mm macro lens on a full frame (35mm) body without cropping.

I’ve been fortunate to have had three #evenings in a row which have been clear enough to #photograph the #WaxingCrescent of the #Moon. Without wanting to sound immodest, I think is the best of the three so far.

First time I've noticed one of these birds, but they're apparently all over North America: A Northern Flicker, a type of .

(I was kind of annoyed that it was on the shaded side of the tree, but I can't really blame it. The late afternoon sun was really bright.)

I spied an Intermediate Egret hunting this afternoon after work by the lakes at UQ. I was of course two close to get it all in, on one frame, so this is a two shot panorama (luckily egrets are very still while hunting).

Mating pairs of Cabbage White (Pieris canidia) and Striped Albatross (Appias libythea) spotted at the Sungei Tengah area, 13 March 2021. Maybe they are happy that the rains have returned after the dry spell in Singapore.

I often spot this pair of Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) near the home in Singapore. Here, they were spotted grooming one another on 14 March 2021.

Rose-ringed Parakeets are locally introduced birds.

A centipede (Family Scolopendridae) spotted on the walking path near the Sungei Serangoon park connector, Singapore, on 14 March 2021. It wasn't moving much, and I thought it was a piece of wood on the ground until I took a closer look. It pays to watch where you step, even on pavements.

Marked the images as sensitive for those who prefer not to see images of centipedes.

An interesting find while walking at Windsor Nature Park, Singapore, on 12 March 2021. A Predatory fungus gnat (Macrocera sp.) spotted hanging below a leaf. It has very long antennae, many times the length of its body.

Fungus gnats are flies. This particular fungus gnat genus is part of the same family (Keroplatidae) as the luminous 'glowworms' of Australia and New Zealand.

Went for a walk at Windsor Nature Park, Singapore, on 12 March 2021, and spotted a pair of Common Hill Mynas (Gracula religiosa) on a tree. They appear to be picking the fruits or seeds from the tree and then dropping them.

The Common Hill Myna is an uncommon resident bird.

A Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Dicaeum cruentatum) spotted at Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore, on 7 March 2021. It stayed there a while, gathering flowers from a stalk before flying off.

This fox squirrel was hiding at the base of a bush in a city park. As I approached, it ran up a nearby tree and then paused a few feet up.

Nice to see this Giant Dead Leaf Mantis (Deroplatys desiccata) at Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore, on 7 March 2021. The last one looks like those 'film monsters in silhouette' shots. :-)

Happy to spot this Straw-headed Bulbul (Pycnonotus zeylanicus) during a walk at Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore, on 7 March 2021. It flew off after this shot, but its lovely calls could be heard for a while in the forest.

The Straw-headed Bulbul is a Critically Endangered bird. Maybe up to half of its wild population is found in Singapore.
