In keen anticipation, & desperate fingerscrossedness, for this evening's putative sub-miracle, this morning a minor-sub-miracle occurred. I vacuumed the house. 😮🤯

Ofc, my poor little old Vackie was quite taken aback at this proposition, having been left undisturbed in her slumbers for several months, as is her wont. She even went so far as to insist she'd forgotten entirely how to even do all the noisy sucky beeswax, but she eventually came good for it after i'd spent 45' demonstrating to her, down on my hands & knees, mouth to the tiles & carpet, emitting banshee noises & sucking like billyo.

That's my fibre intake all sorted out for this month.

🤪

They say early voting is happening in record numbers for this year's Federal Election. The level of activity when I early-voted at my local voting centre appears to confirm it. They weren't slammed, but the queue took about 15 minutes to get through.

AEC workers looked very well organised, and had a no-nonsense / get-it-done vibe.

No Democracy Sausage for early voters, but I heard snags will be there for people who vote on Saturday! 🗳️🌭

Day 30 cont 🗳️🇨🇳

“I don’t want there to be any concerns about this, and in the interests of full transparency, I’ve contacted the #AEC and the Department of Parliamentary Services and given them the details that I gave to #TheAge yesterday about my #relationship with those #volunteers and with Mr #JiJianmin I’ve said, look, if you’ve got any concerns, please investigate.”

cont

“[They’re] people who attended a dinner where a community leader [JiJianmin] said that he supported me and he supported my #values, and thought that I’ve been very #supportive of the community in recent years, and for that reason he thought people should #Support me now. I’m grateful for the support the Chinese Australians have given me in the last three years.”

I’ve got the nod from the #CCP.

Day 29 🗳️⚔️

“A dispute over signage between a #Labor staffer volunteering for #Wills MP #PeterKhalil and a #MuslimVotesMatter volunteer at a pre-polling station in #Brunswick led to police being called and the activist being questioned by officers.

The dispute, along with an argument between minor party #volunteers, prompted the #Australian Electoral Commission on Saturday to note “#physical and #verbal #violence” at the pre-poll booth and to warn #candidates and their teams to treat each other with #respect.”

Another #AEC website screw-up.
This time they send potential Blue Haven voters gallivanting through the bush, swimming across a creek, then presumably giving their vote to a passing drop-bear?

The listed address is correct, but the map location and resultant directions are about as trustworthy as Dutton 🤮

The #ADF and its symbols ought to remain politically neutral for very good reasons and ex-service members, more than anyone else, ought to know why.

Political candidates ‘marketing’ their ADF service only show they are simply unelectable based on their personal qualities and need ADF symbols to look ‘strong’ and ‘relevant’. Why would anyone vote for them?

Dare I say, while I don’t wish to tar all of them with the same brush, some ADF units and their members have had systemic issues with misogyny, misplaced bravura, and disproportionate sense of self-worth that are yet to be eradicated.

Surely, some tweak of AEC legislation could solve the issue.

Day 24 cont 💰🥷🕵🏻‍♂️👻 🖨️

“Allegra Spender has denounced as “false, misleading, and offensive” a pamphlet targeting her that is being distributed anonymously in the #Sydney seat of Wentworth and which the Australian #Electoral #Commission is investigating.

On Monday the #AEC said it had received complaints about “the #distribution of an unauthorised #pamphlet opposing the member for Wentworth which is in breach” of electoral laws which require material to be authorised with the name and address of its source.”

A pretty clumsy move, highlighting motive and at considerable cost. Motive, means, opportunity.

Keep in mind foreign interference briefing by ASIO head earlier in the year.

The Australian Electoral Commission’s Facebook post announcing candidates for the forthcoming election has received 4 comments, whilst the one explaining why we use pencils has almost 800 comments.
I think that tells you all you need to know about the state of Australian politics.
