Reposting this important article about Dale Bredesen's unscientific claims, which have made him a great deal of $, about his protocol being able to reverse #Alzheimer's. Better to heed experts like Bruce Miller & Mario Carillo. Also, yes, to the Mediterranean diet and no to social isolation; yes to hearing aids and no to all nighters; yes to exercise, good sleep, anti-depressants as needed and no to a concoction whose main ingredient is false hope.

After Kerry Briggs, 64, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, she told her husband that she wanted to enroll in a clinical trial to help others. When she was rejected, she signed up for an unconventional lifestyle program called “Recode” instead.

While eviscerating #NIH studies of #Alzheimer's, #RFK & his circle support this expensive, anecdotal wellness approach. Yes, to the Mediterranean diet, exercise, sleep, & build cognitive reserve but #Bredesen is selling false hope to desperate people & making a lot of $.

[Bredesen] said that he worried that the title of his own book, “The End of Alzheimer’s,” was too definitive — & blamed his publisher." Does he blame the publisher for selling 300,00 copies of his book?

This brief fact sheet from the #Alzheimer's Association contains crucial information about the financial costs of #dementia. We're not even talking about the emotional ones whose dollar amount is incalculable. The #GOP is playing with fire: "Among seniors with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, 24% have both Medicare and Medicaid (“dual-eligible seniors”), compared with just 10% of
seniors without Alzheimer’s."

Here is a review of my #memoir about my father's early-onset #Alzheimer's & the unbearable grief of watching a loved one die of #dementia. #Neurologist Dr. Bruce Miller wrote it w/me & explains the brain health (or sickness) behind the clinical presentations I saw: word-finding difficulties, spatial disorientation, behavioral anomalies, memory loss. The 1st chapter is on diagnosis. If this resonates, I am sorry. Readers have said the book has helped. bookshop.org/shop/WeAreHFC

„Ausgerechnet Acetaprimid, das 11.000 mal giftiger ist als gedacht, wurde zusammen mit anderen Mittel jetzt über Notfallzulassungen erneut erlaubt. Die als Alzheimer-Pestizide bekannt gewordenen Neonicotinoide dürfen auch bei Kartoffeln und in Kürze wohl auch bei anderen Gemüsesorten gespritzt werden. So gelangen sie in viele Nahrungsmittel – Imker fürchten um das Leben ihrer Honigbienen.“

Capping indirect costs (the link below, starting at bullet 44 provides an excellent explainer re: indirect costs) kneecaps the #science. #NSF supports research in physics and engineering, as well as research on #genetics, #Parkinsons, #Alzheimer's. Not only will these cuts destroy US leadership in science, but the effects on the bodies in the body politic are profound. We will be sicker and suffer more.
