"(former) RV Poseidon" #FromTheArchives
(later: #SeaWatch4, since 2022: #Humanity1 )

Research vessel "Poseidon" at Kiel Seefischmarkt pier, taken w/ Agfa Optima II on Kodak BW400CN chomogenic b&w film. Just a preview scan, full negative frame, uncut & unedited.

“The concept of progress is premised on the idea of catastrophe. That things ‘just go on’ is the catastrophe. Strindbergs idea: catastrophe is not something that awaits us - but this very life here. Salvation holds itself to the little leap within the ongoing catastrophe.”
Walter Benjamin (1938/39)

Walter Benjamin (1938/39)

The No. 5 film from No Color Photography is a black-and-white negative orthochromatic specialty film. It produces high-contrast, high-resolution, continuous-tone images and very fine grain. Originally, it was designed for storing archival documents, which could be viewed using special machines available in libraries, if you remember those.

I used it with a medium format camera and a tripod during a photo walk around the Nordbahnhof S-Bahn station earlier in the year, back when it was still cold and dark outside. I'm not sure if that was the best environment for that film, but it worked out for me.

Here, you can see a small piece of the Berlin Wall inside a cemetery, and a train passes by quickly at Liesenbrücken.
