How wildly successful anti-trans ads fired up Texas' Republican voters
texastribune.org/2024/11/08/tr

* barrage of attack ads, focus on trans kids playing youth sports
* Democrats struggled to respond
* fact that Texas’ senate candidates argued about youth sports rather than economy, immigration, future of democracy was a Republican victory

Comment - that's the plan:
* social media attacks go viral amplifying hate
* "trump" weak, reactionary responses

#Senate #GOP #doublesdown on #antitrans #attackads

#Republicans have wasted $82 million in the last few months to #slam #Democratic #lawmakers and #candidates over #support for #transgender #athletes and #genderaffirmingcare for #kids.

— Most people just don't care enough about trans people for these ads to motivate them to vote, the ones that will care are overwhelmingly trans allies.

#Trump #campaign's #obsessive #hate may not boost him, but it will cause #longterm #damage.

A #deluge of #swingstate #AttackAds suggest #trans #people cannot #coexist #peacefully with #cisgender #people

All of the Trump ads are #vicious #garbage, I spent a lot of time pondering why the #hatred against #trans #people stands out. It's the #tagline: "Kamala is for they/them, Trump is for you."

I just looked at the new 'scathing' campaign ad from the Dear leader, which ridicules a number of Harris' statements. Pretty much aall of the quotes sound fine to me, if a bit stiff.

This ad will convince few outside the Dear Leader's base, and those that it does convince would likely vote for the DL anyway. On the other hand, portraying Harris as a stupid and air-headed woman is going to backfire -- maybe spectacularly -- with everyone else.

"Mark Saunders has already attacked Josh Matlow's 'Public Build Toronto' housing plan showing his ignorance [and offering no solutions]
[Attacking] Matlow will be a sustained theme because Doug Ford fears him.

I think Saunders' people have a pretty good idea that in the end it'll come down to him & Matlow as two distinct visions for the city. That's why they go after him so much."
