Just realized that Captain America: Brave New World (2025) fails the Bechdel test, like, _hard_.
There are basically only two women in the entire movie, and they're not talking to each other, even though they're working at the same place. And one of them doesn't get introduced until half an hour into the movie.
PSA: technically Alien passes the #BechdelTest. Because two women get together and communicate about something other than a man.
Kept hoping Dr. Langer would talk to one of the other women for a brief moment, but no #monsterdon #bechdeltest
A new Bechdel test? …climate change
Besteht der #BarbieMovie eigentlich den #bechdeltest ?
Love that something that started out as a joke is probably the best known means of analysing gender: The Bechdel Test
To pass, a film has to feature at least two women – preferably named characters – talking to each other about something other than a man.
do you require that the 2 named characters be women, or would "non-male"...
I think two characters that could be romantic rivals talking about a third character they could be vying for romantically would fit a modern sense of what the #BechdelTest tried to accomplish. On the other hand, the test was trying to point out how a gender (or group) was being disparaged for then considered trival focus on stereotypical matters. For my #writing, I'd categorize it as such.
we had our first brush with a potential #BechdelTest pass with two women talking to one another for 3 seconds, but their only dialogue was to ask where the men were going so that's a hard miss. #NeuroParty
@moira what on earth, so you mean we could have had a #BechdelTest pass on our hands but the studio stepped in #NeuroParty
Somebody just made me aware of something … At least the first two episodes of #Picard season 3 that are currently out … they don’t pass the #BechdelTest, do they?
I've read reviews and comments with variations on #WakandaForever being a love letter to Chadwick Boseman.
It's a tribute and homage to Chadwick, but it's a love letter to Black women, *especially* dark skinned Black women.
I think there's less than 10 minutes where a Black woman wasn't central to the scene, and present on screen.
It's also feels like a deeply respectful acknowledgment of the oppression and trauma we share with Indigenous peoples in this hemisphere.
Passes #BechdelTest, too
Never put too much stock in the Bechdel Test, but my curiosity got the better of me, so I examined my 20 stories with it. The results? Kinda interesting.
