MikeDunnAuthor<p>Today in History July 25, 1965: Bob Dylan went electric at the Newport Folk Festival, accompanied by Mike Bloomfield and Barry Goldberg, from the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. It was the first time he had performed with electric instruments and signaled a major change in folk and rock music. Many purists in the audience booed. Pete Seeger said he wanted to take an axe to the cables because it was so loud and distorted. He later claimed that the sound quality was poor and he merely wanted audience members to hear Dylan’s voice. Dylan claimed that Seeger’s response was like a dagger in his heart. In 2013, Dylan’s Newport guitar sold for $965,000.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPfsUlFxhrI" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=QPfsUlFxhr</span><span class="invisible">I</span></a></p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/workingclass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>workingclass</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LaborHistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LaborHistory</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/bobdylan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bobdylan</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/newportfolkfestival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newportfolkfestival</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/folkmusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>folkmusic</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/peteseeger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>peteseeger</span></a></p>

The Vinyl Ape 🦧<p>BOB DYLAN<br>Blonde On Blonde<br>1970s Canada 2xLP reissue</p><p>A little Saturday morning Bob, as per my teenage son’s request, as we eat apple pancakes for breakfast. </p><p>My boy has become quite enamoured with Mr. Zimmerman, but only up until Infidels, and then only Oh Mercy and Time Out Of Mind after that.</p><p>Blonde On Blonde is an album I find to be a song or two too long, but great regardless. It’s just a classic, early morning riser weekend record.</p><p>Interesting fact about Blonde on Blonde:<br>The initial Canadian pressing contains an early mix of the album which was subsequently NOT used for the American "original" edition. It is distinctly different than the American release, but then again, there are an INSANE amount of different mixes of this record.</p><p><a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinyl</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylrecords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylrecords</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylcollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylcollection</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylcommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylcommunity</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/retro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retro</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vintage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vintage</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/bobdylan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bobdylan</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/blondeonblonde" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blondeonblonde</span></a></p>

Ben! (Boo!)<p>Sure Self Portrait by <a href="https://mas.to/tags/BobDylan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BobDylan</span></a> is a completely half-assed mess of covers, live tracks, and b sides just to fill contract obligations but people sleep on the fact that a number of the songs are quite listenable if far from groundbreaking. I like to throw it on from time to time.</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/folkrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>folkrock</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/folk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>folk</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/folkmusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>folkmusic</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/classicrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classicrock</span></a></p>
