@tantramar @VE2UWY @dyckron It truly is shameful. #ChrystiaFreeland, can we please return cost-appropriate rail / air travel to Canada. It’s cheaper to fly south, across the border than to fly anywhere in Canada. Makes no sense. And having eliminated rail service from coast to coast is also unbelievable. The only way to get to Winnipeg from Montreal is to fly, at a cost of approx $700. Or drive. Come on Canada. 🇨🇦 let’s make transportation work again.

#MarkCarney, fmr central banker-turned-centrist politician, triumphed over #ChrystiaFreeland, paving the way fo him to succeed #Trudeau as #Canada's PM. He is expected to be sworn in early this week.

Carney, 59, whose resume is filled w/decades of experience working at the highest levels of global #finance but has never been elected to public office, faces his 1st economic reckoning as PM–managing Canada's #trade relationship w/an erratic #Trump.

It’s time for a brand-new episode of Alberta Unbound! I sit down with Alberta political journalist Graham Thomson, for a look how and why Mark Carney, Chrystia Freeland and Pierre Poilievre are all leaning into their Alberta roots and identities, as they angle to be prime minister. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/ #AlbertaUnbound #cdnpoli #Edmonton #Calgary #yeg #LiberalLeadership #MarkCarney #ChrystiaFreeland #Alberta #Canada #ableg #abpoli

Now I understand why Trump says she's "nasty".
It's because she has experience dealing with bullies like him. 👍

She would be able to stand her ground as well with the Conservatives considering little PP. I mean, they wouldn't be able to complain that she doesn't represent Western Canada well... she's from a farming family in Northern Alberta! They can't say "Just like Trudeau" either because she got demoted since she was not aligned with him!

The greatest structural failing in #CanPol is the centralization of power in the PMO. Consequently, I welcomed the resignation of #ChrystiaFreeland in December as a sign of ministers showing independence. Similarly, I welcome the revolt of the Liberal caucuses that forced the hand of the PM.

Putting aside the specific issues and individuals, it's promising to see some of the rusted up mechanisms of our parliamentary system finally starting to function again.
