Whether you are a regular park visitor, or have never heard of #WellandCommunityOrchard before, come out and explore with a guided 1 hour #tour of this incredible community resource. Learn about some of the 100 + heritage apple varieties planted in the orchard, as well as some fruit trees you may have never heard of before such as Plout and Medlar! Plus learn about some of the interesting features on site including rainwater collection, pollinator habitat and native plant gardens.

#GuidedTours of the #CommunityOrchard is by public donation with all funds going back into orchard needs/upkeep/stewardship. We are grassroots nonprofit.

The tour will be followed by a Welland Orchard Work Party from 1pm-3pm. If you plan to attend both, feel free to bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic in the orchard. For more information about the work party or to sign up, please visit the Gleaning Hub at gleaning.lifecyclesproject.ca

EventbriteWelland Orchard TourCome on out to Welland Orchard for a fun and educational tour of the park!

Come on out & #volunteer for fun #signmaking at #WellandCommunityOrchard with me & others!
There's 2 days for new signs making work to be done. I'll be there on both days 😊

Monday, July 21st, 10am-12pm.
Sunday, July 27th, 1pm-3pm.
Join in as we start on a new project of creating some beautiful and engaging #signage in the orchard. Together we will be working on sanding, painting and varnishing wooden signs to label each fruit tree in the orchard! Artistic skills are welcome but not required.

You can register for all volunteer shifts on the Gleaning Hub:

The Monday sign making #workparty is followed with an afternoon orchard work party - we need help with pruning fruit trees, weeding & general orchard care duties.

Our current #information handouts for the public. All have been updated for this year.
I'm putting some into my little free library on Kamloops Ave(only LFL on the street). I helped with the Welland Community Orchard map/brochure.

More helping hands are always welcome! Come & help us out with local food security efforts, if you live in Victoria/Saanich/Esquimalt & surrounding areas! There's several different projects to choose from:

LifeCycles revamps its seed library now, just in time for planting 2026.

The executive director for the Victoria #nonprofit LifeCycles Project is spearheading a refresh on its seed library with a goal to create open access where people can pick up all the resources they need from the library – including seeds.

Saving, sharing and sowing seeds has been a LifeCycles goal since the 1990s with a variety of projects.:

Clean Up the Beach in #solidarity with #Heiltsuk Nation

June 8 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join RAVEN and #Surfrider for a World Oceans Day beach cleanup, where we’ll be fundraising for Heiltsuk Nation’s legal challenge that aims to protect #marine #ecosystems from coast to coast to coast.

This year, we’re choosing to engage in #community reciprocity not just for our own local #watersheds, but as an act of solidarity with Heiltsuk Nation, whose own beach cleanup — following the Nathan E. Stewart spill — is so much more complex.

So, come out to #CloverPoint in Victoria on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 11am-1pm for a community-powered beach cleanup. Together we are aiming to fundraise $2,000 for Heiltsuk’s legal challenge on #WorldOceansDay.

I was not born to kneel before any government.
I was not born to appease any politician.
I was not born to uphold the sickass status quo.
I was born to challenge all of the above.
I come from a long line of resistance warriors & will fight for justice for the oppressed humans & non-human living beings, as long as I'm alive to do so.
This is a lifetime personal commitment.
I take it very seriously.

Hey #Nanaimo folks. I'll be up your way April 8th-11th. I am meeting & working with a new client who is moving from Nanaimo to Victoria in May. I will have some free time on some afternoons & evenings if Fedi friends want to meet up (DM please & thank you).
I'll be up that way again in May & a few other times this Spring-Fall too, for 2-3 nights each trip, for some cultural reconnection collabs & grassroots, decolonized, community building.

This year, I'm also working on launching my own "Boots for the People" donations drive. To get workboots donated to marginalized, newly housed folks who are trying to make a living from new job & for longtime housed folks living under poverty line who can't afford quality work boots.

I'll need some local volunteers in #Saanich & #VictoriaBC #VancouverIsland areas to help me with picking up/dropping off donations, help with spreading the good word out & help with obtaining free or discounted printed promo materials for the donations drive.

A #PWME helper got too sick but found this site:

theroomxchange.com/how-it-works

It matches home owners w ppl wanting to rent a room.

Can’t manage using this page alone.

Currently only very ill ppl are volunteering & drop out fast.

Anyone healthy?

I live w a psychopath (diagnosed) & more! Need. To. Leave!

2008.

With my entry for that year's Bear Wear charity event to raise funds for children in Vancouver Island hospitals & who needed health services via the former Queen Alexandra Hospital for Children, which is now Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health.
I was sponsored by Access Media company. My entry was #equestrian themed as I entered on behalf of my old para-equestrian riding association, VRDA.
