Even if a #Progressive is elected, hypothetically speaking, they won't be able to do the shit they say cos they'll be backed into a corner.

#Congress, #Politicians & #Corporations & #WallStreet will not let it happen.

A tiny minority of people still get a say, there's still #exploitation, there would be a #CapitalStrike which would lead to #civil unrest and possibly a coup to take power back for #capitalist class with the forces of the #reactionary.

Day 15 #OpEd reminder of who benefits from #LNP ☢️ policy

Thu 31 Oct, 2024.

#PeterDutton says his office asked whether billionaire (Oligarch) #GinaRinehart's jet was available for event: #OppositionLeader Peter Dutton has admitted his own error after saying he had never requested access to billionaire mining magnate Gina Rinehart's #PrivateJet in his travels.”

Mr Dutton has previously #declared flights provided by #HancockProspecting, owned by Ms #Rinehart, but on Tuesday said "no" when asked if he had ever personally asked to be flown courtesy of the nation's #richest woman.

Speaker #MikeJohnson was able to put down a revolt on Thurs & push through that blueprint to deliver #Trump’s agenda of spending & tax cuts for #corporations & the #wealthy by promising #House conservatives that their colleagues in the #Senate would join them in cutting $1.5T in federal spending over the next decade.

Senator Jerry Moran, Republican of Kansas, has warned about the effect sweeping cuts to Medicaid could have on his state and rural health care across the country.

The only motivation for promoting #consumerism is the fact that the people still have something to offer. The imagined consumerist #dystopia s like Wall-e all wind up to the circular logic, that the #corporations want us consuming for the consuming sake itself.

No, they want us consuming because we have something they want from us - our work. They want to be exploiting us. Wealth does not come from thin air, it's not like people just have money magically appearing in our pockets and they will be just handing it over. We work for it.

Providing us with consumables is a cost. They bear this cost because it's cheaper than using violence. But make no mistake - the moment they can replace the human work force with robots and #AI we will be redundant to them. The consumerism will end. And it will get very grim.

The #House narrowly adopted the #Republican #budget blueprint for slashing taxes for the very #wealthy & #corporations & government #spending, overcoming the concerns of budget hard-liners who fear it will balloon the nation’s #debt. The vote was a victory for Speaker #MikeJohnson, who put down a rebellion from deficit hawks, & #Trump, who had stepped up pressure on reluctant #Republicans.

#DemocracyNow: “What About the Capitalists?”: Autoworkers in U.S., Mexico Call for Solidarity, Not Divisive Tariffs

Story April 08, 2025

"As workers brace for uncertainty and fallout from #Trump’s #tariffs, we hear from two #autoworkers, one in #Mexico and one in the United States. Israel Cervantes, founder of the National Independent Union for Workers in the Automotive Industry in Mexico, calls for unions across #NorthAmerica to unite against the tariffs, which have already led to layoffs from auto manufacturers. In the U.S., autoworker and UAW member Sean Crawford joins Democracy Now! on his work break to respond to the rhetoric and impact of the tariffs. 'They are always harping on foreigners, foreigners, foreigners. But what about the #capitalists? says Crawford, who urges international solidarity against #corporations’ attempts to sow division among #exploited #workers. “This nationalistic viewpoint has not been working for us and has resulted in a lot of these layoffs,' he says. 'I want to see us grow together as a #WorkingClass.'"

Democracy Now! · “What About the Capitalists?”: Autoworkers in U.S., Mexico Call for Solidarity, Not Divisive TariffsBy Democracy Now!

Growing up in #1990s #Philippines, I can't help but see some weird parallels here in #Australia today...

- Loss of individual liberty
- Widespread government #corruption
- Dumb and negligent #corporations
- Obsession with private school
- Prudish religious culture
- Public feel helpless to change
- #Authoritarianism by default
- #Wealth determines your #worth as a person
- Massive and growing wealth inequality

What happened here in #Oz? We used to be the lucky country.

Now we're just a #mess.

@GossiTheDog pretty shure #Apple's #Greedflation will not result in their #iPhone|s and other products to be sold #cheaper in the #EU, but instead they'll do #PriceGouging even harder!

  • And because #Fanboys are just beyond help, they still gonna buy that shite regardless!

Or does anyone expect Apple to stop #overcharging for their #AntiRepairDesign|ed products???

  • Hell no, Tim Cook wants to buy himself the dozenth house just from bonuses!!!

"If you don’t state what you care about, how are random employees supposed to guess whether the things they value about your culture are the result of hard work and careful planning, or simply…emergent properties? Even more importantly, how are they supposed to know if your failures and shortcomings are due to trying but failing or simply not giving a shit?"
