More prints from the darkroom! These were printed on Fomatone fibre-based paper and selenium-toned. I do like fibre-based paper!
Some of you may have noticed that these prints are flat. Indeed, they are. I have a fix for curling prints... see the next post...

Two days ago I tried printing on Foma Retrobrom fibre paper. The results were not good; very flat and muddy.
Today I tested my safelights. The results below speak volumes. Ilford papers and Fomatone were perfectly fine, but Retrobrom was a disaster. Even with the Paterson safelight off and just the Kaiser deep red safelight on, the whites were still affected (light grey test strips in photo). There are no light leaks in the room. I need to research this some more.
Spent a bit of time today working on reducing my #darkroom setup time. Made a new stencil for my easel, and these matching template cards. Because I mount my intrepid enlarger on a tripod, it has taken me ages to get the height right for a given print. I made these cards so thar, for a given lens, I can set the correct height for a given print size. Have also decided that, with a set strategy, the crappy bubble level is good enough (seems my table is mostly level)
New #darkroom gear! Ebay photos, but the grain focuser is already here. Much less back aching than the small Patterson. The lens is the 80mm schneider to replace bpmy durst one. The aperture control on the schneiders are so nice, and now my 3 main enlarger lenses are all schneider, and all the same filter thread.

"No worries, i only farted"
I printed some black and white photos in the darkroom tonight. #photography #darkroom #believeinfilm
Another print from my first lith printing session
I used Moersch Easy Lith, parts A+B+D and Fomatone fibre paper. The top print is a normal print for comparison. The lith print turned out too yellow/red for my taste, so I toned it in Selenium toner. I'm quite pleased with my first attempt.

I’m trying darkroom printing on fibre paper, specifically Fomatone MG Classic Warm-tone. The plan is to try lith printing, something I have meant to do for a long time. First, I need to work out the exposure times for this paper using normal developer. Some of my efforts…

More darkroom printing. One test strip and a straight print at grade 2.5 is all it took. No split grading, no dodging or burning. This was from an HP5 negative, pulled one-stop, developed in Acurol-N. If only all prints were this easy!
I'm still down a scanner, so decided to make some quick prints to share some images I made during folder week. In order to preserve the square format I shot with the Mamiya I cobbled together a simple mask with some chipboard I had laying around.
Overall I'm pleased with how they turned out!

The weather here has been quite bad this past week or so. I took the opportunity to do some darkroom printing. A few prints from my last darkroom session.
I made a few quick 5x7 prints just to try and get back into a darkroom habit.
