Yeah, that whole #OceanGate shitshow was destined to fail.
Like it's one thing for me to dive 40m for the 100th time in tropical waters with proven &checked equpment and following standards everyone from US Navy to NOAA to PADI agreeing upon to be within a big ass safety envelope vs. DIY'ing a sub out of carbon fiber that was rejected by Boeing's QC/QA for use and then going 4.000m deep...

This isn't like a pair or goup dive where if someonegets drowsy or has nitrogen or oxygen mess them up one can just slowly drag them up to the surface and get help within minutes or hours.
Would I consider DIY'ing a sub myself?
- Yes, but only for diving in depths I know how to safely get to the surface, which as of my AOWD is 40m.
It's just that noone wants to pay me for that even tho the nicest stuff is in the 5-25m depth area from my experience of 250+ dives...
OFC that's gonna cost a lot of money:
- Even if I just upcycle like an LPG or CNG storage tank rated for 10-200+ bar instead and have that thing X-ray'd before buying to detect hairline cracks and other potential issues...
There's a reason why recreational diving is using 40m ad a somewhat hard floor.
- I never had any diving issues even at the notorious Blue Hole of Dahab because I didn't let ego and testosterone take over and instead stayed rational.
Besides, there's nothing down there worth risking to die for: All one does find there are lead belts and -pouches people ejected in a panic - aka. not even the cost of getting air into a tank!
- I mean, shure, if one has the training and gear and expertise, it's cool for bragging rights to say "I did the Arch at the Blue Hole!" but from experience I can assure y'all that it's not worth it when "The Saddle" is way nicer to look at and also a good way to end the nice dive on the beautiful outside of that spot.
Seriously, people need to stop worshipping #antisocial "#FuckAroundAndFindOut" #billionaires like #ElonMusk that think Suborbital Rocket Flights are to be taken serious as a way of Transportation because he saw that in a videogame and propably thought "Fuck yeah! I want this..." in his typical #EliteProjection craze...
