Thanks to @j12t and @fediforum for taking this issue seriously and being interested in building a better FediForum!

Thanks to @quillmatiq for moderating today's discussion on how to go forward.

I am hopeful that this will result in a better conference that will better serve all the constituencies of the fediverse in the future, because it will by built with us and by us.

This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used. If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird". So #KeepFediWeird.

It’s rare to read public messages like these from conference organizers.

It is disappointing to note this, but it takes a level sensitivity, care, and awareness that are sadly exceptional in broadly participated events such as @fediforum.

Even though @j12t is not automagically absolved from any negative behaviour or position, I would like to personally thank him for his efforts and devotion!

I believe the path towards a safer, healthier, more horizontal, and participatory #FediForum will be bumpy and uphill. Nevertheless, after these last statements I will gladly join the conversation, even if I am a very privileged individual who cannot speak for a truly underrepresented minority.

I am very bummed FediForum won’t be happening, but I am confident about its bright future. It was a great opportunity for me in the past, and I really hope it will be so even more!

I realize now that have made a number of mistakes in the past few days, as well as before, top of which is that I have not communicated better -- in both directions. Some misunderstandings as well as real problems could have been avoided. Thanks everybody who pointed this out. We/I need to fix this and do better, and I appreciate your help. But I own this. Reminder that @fediforum is hosting a conference starting tomorrow (this Tuesday), with some big names.

One of the (two) organizers is very openly transphobic, in a bunch of different (and obviously harmful) ways.

While there's been a statement from @j12t that eventually she'll be leaving the organization, we still have no answer about if she will be participating in (or profiting from) tomorrow's conference.

Boosts appreciated, so that everybody attending has a chance to cancel.
