The Hidden Toll of Disasters
#Hurricanes, #wildfires, #pandemics, and other crises disrupt lives in unexpected ways. Survivors may experience #anxiety, #depression, #grief, and even post-traumatic stress disorder #PTSD. Vulnerable populations, including #children and #olderadults, often struggle the most. Meanwhile, #firstresponders face cumulative #stress, increasing the risk of #burnout and secondary #trauma.
The #Russians even "double tap" to kill #Ukrainian #FirstResponders:
"A gas pipeline caught fire following a strike, and as #emergency responders worked to extinguish the blaze, #drones targeted them."
The New Mexico Supreme Court clarified the extent to which 911 dispatchers are immune from claims for damages arising from negligence in a unanimous opinion Monday. The question arose in a lawsuit stemming from the death of a Las Cruces teen in 2020.

Congratulations to Deputy Myron Bennett III and Paramedic/Firefighter Victor Low, honored by Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge in its annual Law Enforcement and Firefighter Recognition ceremony. We live in one of the safest communities in the nation thanks to the dedication of first responders like these.
It was a privilege to join Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and colleagues Al Adam and Tie Gutierrez, along with representatives from Congresswoman Julia Brownley, Senator Henry Stern, and Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, in presenting commendations for extraordinary public service.

The LA County Relief: Funding & Resource Portal hosts a range of funds dedicated to supporting first responders, offering housing assistance, providing relief for small businesses and workers, and removing barriers for students and communities.
Today the team @1password released a way for people to programmatically share passwords with others via link. It got me thinking about how people coordinating first responders from different organizations could share log in info during emergencies much quicker and more controlled. In the past this has been done with sticky notes and print outs. Anywho very helpful functionality. #firstresponders #passwords #infosec
