HaraldDer Gullfoss, wohl einer der bekanntsten Wasserfälle auf Island. Da er am Golden Circle liegt ist auch entsprechend viel los, es lohnt sich also sehr früh da zu sein. Dass es ihn noch gibt hat er letztendlich einer versäumt Pachtzahlung der englischen Gesellschaft zu verdanken, die ihn für ein Elektrizitätswerk nutzen wollte. Luigi MorbidelliIced Gullfoss waterfall at sunset, Iceland Gullfoss, often referred to as the "Golden Falls," is one of Iceland's most iconic and breathtaking waterfalls. Located in the Hvítá river canyon in southwest Iceland, Gullfoss is part of the Golden Circle, a popular tourist route that also includes Þingvellir National Park and the geothermal area in Haukadalur, home to the famous geysers Geysir and Strokkur. The waterfall consists of two distinct tiers, with a total drop of about 32 meters. The water cascades down in a dramatic manner, creating a powerful and mesmerizing sight. On sunny days, the mist generated by the falls often results in beautiful rainbows, adding to the enchantment of the scenery. Thingvellir is where the North American and European tectonic plates are moving further away. Gullfoss falls are amazing and from there we saw a strange cloud formation over a distant mountain, that even the guide hadn't seen before. After a visit to watch the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Stokkur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Stokkur</a> geyser blow a few times (wow!), we headed for as much tomato soup and bread as you could handle at Friðheimar tomato farm. They even brought over <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/vegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#vegan</a> butter and sour cream for me. Fantastic! They have their own bees there, too, imported from the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Netherlands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Netherlands</a>.
