This part ruined church was in use for almost 600 years between C13 and C19 before falling into disrepair. It was replaced by a new church nearby at the village of Greatham, Hampshire, England. Now only the small chancel remains, hanging on, perhaps awaiting the inevitable.

We left that Mudeford and bimbled down to that Hurst Spit what pokes out into the Solent and is a bloomin' long ride on a gravel bike if you've only taken 35mm tyres. 44mm is good though, but the Tudors what built the castle didn't have gravel bikes so Lord knows how they got there. #HurstSpit #HurstCastle #Hampshire #Solent #AerialPhotography #Photography

There are seven black Tornai fonts in England dating from C12 and early C13th, made in and around the Belgian town of Tournai.
Each font was probably carved by local masons before transport, based on similarities in style and shape, and the difficulties and expense of transporting a complete block, much of which would be wasted.
Many more of these fonts are found in Belgium and France, and a few in Germany.

What a hero!
High time such plastic packaging reverted to that seen back in the 1970s and 1980s.
Metal tins were so much nicer and could easily be recycled from home without the need for a specialist processing centre.
It would be wonderful to see some of the old brands again too, rather than the 'Big 4' - Quality Street, Roses, Celebrations, & Heroes.

Day 19 of the 2024 #dragonfly #AdventCalendar. Small Red Damselfly is tiny and lives in wild, boggy heath areas. Since I love exploring such habitats, I am naturally very fond of this #damselfly. The closely-related Large Red is a common species in gardens - it is larger and its legs are black not pink.
