On Friday May 16th the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) issued a rather unusual statement, asking the administrators of the open-access repository scientific papers arXiv to retract a study published in 2024.

A look at scientific (and journalistic) integrity in times of hype.

#Skwawkbox | ‘MSM’ still silent on Winstanley’s court victory over raid – they’d have to explain why they’ve ignored #Starmer’s war on pro-#Palestine #Journalism

"Covering Winstanley’s landmark victory would mean the ‘mainstream’ media’s ‘professional’ journalists would have to hold up their collective hands and admit that they have collectively colluded with the state against other journalists to maintain silence about Starmer’s ‘lawfare’ against those speaking out against genocide"

In the same vein as the other post : introducing a more or less live coding language based on right winged french politicians screaming at a journalist. The way you ask the question determines the Audio pattern. But be aware that sometimes they go full berserk. And they blame their wifes, migrants or whatever they feel like it. I had to, sorry :)

You can try it live:

“He drove all over #Texas, goading, questioning, preaching, writing ‘red hot’ stories and smash-mouth editorials, trying to sell Texas Observer subscriptions ... and hoping to awaken the masses to how shoddily they were being served by most of their alleged representatives.” texasobserver.org/ronnie-dugge

The Texas Observer · Ronnie Dugger, 1930-2025The Observer's crusading founding editor—a prolific author and agitator who helped animate the spirit of a true Texas liberalism—has died at 95.

Both Canadian and American cable news networks are increasingly allowing right wing politicians uninterrupted air time to ramble about whatever they want, newsworthy or not.

I know the networks are starved for content, but they must understand allowing themselves to be used in this manner is more than just sloppy & lazy - it is downright dangerous to allow politicians to dictate the news cycle like this.

Careless People is a tell-all book that walks through Facebook’s rampant (and criminally?) inept responses to it’s growing role in global policy, from it’s role in the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar to the election of Donald J. Trump. The book, written by Facebook’s former director of foreign policy Sarah Wynn-Williams, explains that...

It’s Friday! It’s nearly June! How the heck did that happen?! Here’s our #NewstodonFriday selection of stories from independent newsrooms and a few that caught the Flipboard editorial team’s eye. And while there’s hard-hitting journalism in there (we live in hard-hitting times), there’s more than our usual number of inspiring, positive stories of hope and beauty amidst destruction and oppression. @timkmak’s team writes about secret apartment concerts in Ukraine. @TheConversationUS’s story is about “bone music” in Soviet Russia. We’ll end with a Tiny Desk concert from @npr to take you into the weekend. Please follow independent publishers on the open social web, engage with their stories, and donate money if you can. ⤵️
