Major structural changes to #State would be accompanied by #layoffs of both career #diplomats, known as foreign service officers, & #CivilService employees, who usually work in the dept’s HQ in DC…. The dept would begin putting large numbers of workers on paid leave & sending out notices of termination….

The draft #Trump EO calls for ending the foreign service exam for aspiring diplomats, & it lays out new criteria for hiring, including “alignment with the president’s foreign policy vision.”

Judge #AmyBermanJackson of the Federal District Court in Washington said she intended to issue an order later on Friday preventing the #CFPB’s workers from being cut off from the agency’s system, as the agency’s leaders had planned. She said she intended to follow up later this month with a more extensive hearing on the planned #layoffs. Until then, they will not move forward, she said.

This is horrific. Pixel, Android, Chrome are tangible products that, if anything, deserve more polishing and development.

Google is instead devesting from them in favor of an even more inflated AI play that doesn't actually deliver the same real value to customers/consumers, if any. But at unsustainable resource costs.

We're fucking up our world on fucking purpose and intentionally. Virtue signaling to investors ... What, exactly?

#JaguarLandRover, based in Britain, said it would temporarily stop exporting its luxury cars to the US. #Stellantis idled factories in #Canada & #Mexico that make Chrysler & Jeep vehicles & laid off 900 US #workers who supplied those factories w/engines & other parts.

#Audi, the luxury division of #Volkswagen, also paused exports of cars to the #US from #Europe, telling dealers to sell whatever they still had on their lots.
