Als er mit der Fabrikantenwitwe Ursula Losch (Katrin Sass) ein Verhältnis beginnt, lässt sie sich scheiden. Die Liebe zu der schönen, jungen Ursula gibt ihm neuen Lebensmut, doch nicht auf Dauer. Sie ist Morphinistin und zieht ihn noch weiter in den Abgrund. Den kurzen Hoch-Zeiten folgen immer größere Tiefs.
