I wish the medication shortage had been more of an election issue. Lots of people are struggling to get their scripts filled for a variety of conditions.

My son is doing well academically and emotionally right now, but every month I dread going to the pharmacy to be told they're out of his Concerta. Last month it was three chemists before I got some - the last one they had.

Why doesn’t Australia make more medicines? Wouldn’t that fix drug shortages?

The ConversationWhy doesn’t Australia make more medicines? Wouldn’t that fix drug shortages?Boosting Australia’s ability to make pharmaceuticals sounds like a great way to ease medicine shortages. But there are simpler, cheaper options we could try first.

David Armstrong has been a health reporter for decades, so he thought he was prepared for the cost of being sick in America when he was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of 2023. But even he was shocked to find that Revlimid, the drug that keeps his incurable multiple myeloma somewhat at bay, costs almost $1,000 for a daily pill. Here’s his story for @ProPublica about how it came to cost so much and why the price keeps being hiked. When Mark Alles, president of the drug’s manufacturer Celgene, appeared before the House Oversight Committee in 2020, he was quizzed by then-Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.). She concluded: “The drug didn’t get any better. The cancer patients didn’t get any better. You just got better at making money. You just refined your skills at price gouging.”

#Koh: His father did not want him to go. And the only access he had to his daughter was listening to his daughter cry in the background. In a one minute call, that four year old did not get access to a doctor, despite the fact of having stage four cancer, did not have his #medication with him when he was deported. Other govt #databases contain secret #whistleblower data. At the Dept of #Veterans Affairs, you’ll find granular #MentalHealth info on fmr service members, including notes from #therapy sessions, details about #medication, & accounts of substance abuse. Govt agencies including the #IRS, #FBI, #DHS, & Dept of #Defense have all purchased #cellphone-#location data, & possibly collected them, via secretive groups such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

It's not worth it to reoptimize Medications A or C until I know whether or not it's worth it to continue taking Medication B. So now resuming Medications C and D to deal with shortfall in Medication A's efficacy, which has been caused by starting Medication B.

And how very grateful I am that at this moment in my history I have stable access to Medications A-D+. Has not always been the case.

Tho grateful...the meds tinkering is still exhausting.

One of my biggest takeaways from my #adhd journey is that 99.9% of #psychiatric articles are 100% unhelpful.

They are written from the POV of an outside observer, *even in self-assessment tests and descriptions of #medication effects*.

"How often are you distracted by activity or noise around you?"

Never. I am alert to my surroundings, sometimes to the annoyance of other people near me who may need to momentarily take a back seat to a potential hazard or critical issue.

"How often do you have difficulty waiting your turn in situations when turn taking is required?"

When required? Never. But it often happens that slowpokes are content to mosey along or no one is eager to take their turn, in which cases I'm happy to take their place.

"Adderall can normalize your attention span and help you listen better."

Weird, that's not what it does for me. It makes me feel calm and like I don't need to juggle 5 things at once before I forget them.

My entire life I thought I was suffering from #migraine headaches constantly.

#medication does not help them at all which was confusing to me, until I started trying to talk to other people online with severe #tourettes and saw a few TV interviews where they described a similar problem.

They aren't migraines. They're my nervous system freaking out from suppression of tics too much, and look similar.

They are happening less the more I learn to relax in public.
