Once every 3 years the fleet of ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.’”

The C12th church of the Hospital of St Cross. It was founded by Henry of Blois between 1132 and 1136 to support 13 men & is possibly England's oldest surviving charitable institution. The church is the only remaining part of the original foundation. My own. #MedievalMonday

Soutra Aisle in the Scottish Borders - all that remains of the medieval hospital and Augustinian friary of the House of the Holy Trinity. Probably founded in the 12th century, it was one of the most important medieval hospitals in Scotland. My own. #MedievalMonday
