Apparently, there is a rumor floating around locally that I'm planning to move to Canada (or another country).
Yes, it is something that I've seriously considered, but it isn't on the table right now. There is too much work to be done here, and I have a lot of family obligations that would make me hesitant to relocate unless it were absolutely necessary.
Circumstances could change though (my religious/cultural connections to both #Judaism and the #Mennonites have a long history of immigration to avoid persecution --- which is why both traditions are still alive today), which is why I recommend all of my friends to:
1. Ensure that you have a valid passport. If money is tight, then just get the passport card (much cheaper, valid for travel by land or sea to #Canada, #Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean).
2. Start putting money into savings because #immigration (even if to Canada or Mexico) is expensive.
3. It's not a bad time to work on improving your language skills. French fluency gets you preference points in the Canadian immigration system (and possible access to Quebec's expedited immigration program), and of course Spanish fluency is essential if you plan to live in Latin America.
