CyberInsider · Brave Browser Now Blocks Microsoft Recall by DefaultBrave has announced a new privacy defense in version 1.81 of its browser for Windows by automatically blocking of Microsoft’s Recall.

Privacy-first messenger blocks #MicrosoftRecall

#Recall, #Microsoft’s “magical” AI tool that watches everything you do, is back. But the team behind private messaging app #Signal aren’t happy about it—they’ve added a feature to stop Recall taking screenshots of your chats.

As you might recall, Recall was initially dubbed a “#privacy disaster,” before being “delayed indefinitely.” But Microsoft tweaked and relaunched it. And in #SBBlogwatch, people aren’t entirely happy about that.

@Arios The Problem is #Windows.

Don't expect the "#DRMflag" to work when it's being used by @signalapp (which in and of itself is problematic for demanding #PII like #PhoneNumbers and shilling a #Shitcoin-#Scam named #MobileCoin!) because like the #API to signal to Windows "I'm an #Antivirus product, disable defender!" this will be abused.

If you are actually concerned re: #privacy you'd yert signal, educate others and use #XMPP+#OMEMO (i.e. @monocles / #monoclesChat & @gajim ) or #PGP/MIME (i.e. @delta / #deltaChat & @thunderbird ) over @torproject / #Tor instead.

  • It does take a bit of setup, but in return you get extreme gains in #privacy beyond what any #VPN provider can offer - legally and technically!

Not to mention #Signal falls under #CloudAct, so your privacy there is already nonexistant!

  • Otherwise @Mer__edith would've been in jail for the rest of her life already due to the statistic inevitability of it's abuse!

Microsoft’s Windows Recall feature, which stores a timeline of activity snapshots on your PC, has a new release date.

Microsoft unveiled the feature to much fanfare at Build 2024 in May, only to delay it indefinitely after security researchers called the feature a “privacy nightmare.” Now, having added some extra security measures, the company has said it will roll out Recall to beta testers using Copilot+ PCs in October. @engadget has more.

@cdp1337 I think #Windows users and espechally #WindowsServer #Sysadmins are way too tolerant if nit accepting of BS.

If #RedHat / #RHEL, @opensuse , @ubuntu or @libreoffice ever pulled 1% of the shitshow that is #Microsoft365 / #Office365 / #MicrosoftOffice / #Copilot, they'd be sued by their customers and have users with Pitchforks at their front gates...

Infosec.SpaceKevin Karhan :verified: (@kkarhan@infosec.space)@cdp1337@social.veraciousnetwork.com personally, I've wasted 15 years of my life trying to make #Windows useable and the main regret I have is not switching to #Linux 100% 5 years earlier... - I can't do Windows *at all* because no amount of *"pain money"* will compensate for the damage it'll take to my mental health. I'd rather not do #IT at all than suffer through Windows. - And yes, shit's that slow and hard, I've seen companies buying ~ €200k (MSRP which obviously noone pays) in low-core count EPYC servers just to have #MSSQL be somewhat reasonably fast. Not to mention #Microsoft's #Licensing is just absurd as they demand that businesses license their garbage not for the Cores/Threads they'll assign to the Software, but for every single core the #Proxmox or #ESXi cluster has, even if it's impossible for said Software to run on those at the same time because *"#WindowsServer"* doesn't even support multi-node clustering or fault-tolerance at all. - I could at least reason this as a price to pay for it if it actually bought *something* to the table worth it... But it just doesn't! And yes, Windows [does require reboot orgies]( https://social.veraciousnetwork.com/@cdp1337/112782342409591511 ) to update... - Why else do you think it's less pain and frustration to use #nLite and #iPXE to build unattended install images and just reinstall all Windows #Desktops everytime a #ServicePack gets released? It's way faster that way. - Also Microsoft's own tool for that, #WAIK, really sucks ass and is a bigger resource hog than a *"Full Installation"* of #VisualStudio Enterprise Edition! Again: I'd rather [spin my own distro from scratch]( https://os1337.com ) and daily drive it than ever touching Windows again!!!
