I've been looking at #morkborg as I want archetypes for my Glastonbury thing and... has anyone ever run this game as more than a bunch of one-shots?

It's very tonally focused and I can imagine it being great fun for a session here and there but week-in and week-out? Would it not just get horribly samey and (literally) monotonous?

I've had a look online and lots of people going 'Of course you can... just buy one-shots and play them one after another' and then people suggesting Christianity 🙈

Morgen startet die SagaCon in Osnabrück, wo ich drei Runden als Spielleiter anbieten werde. Die SagaCon ist eine der drei Rollenspiel-Conventions, die der Verein Rubicon jedes Jahr im Haus der Jugend ausrichtet. Ich mag den Veranstaltungsort, weil es genügend Räume gibt, damit sich die Spielrunden gut verteilen können. Außerdem sind die Besucher:innen einfach sehr nett und aufgeschlossen.

Ich selber werde zunächst eine Runde Shadow Dark anbieten, die in der Welt unseres Online-Tisches Valravn spielt und auch Einfluss auf das Geschehen auf den Flecken (meinem Seeräuber-Setting) haben wird. Dabei wird Into the Cess and the Citadel als Stadtbaukasten zum Einsatz kommen. Die Vorbereitungen dafür machen auf jeden Fall schon mal Spaß und der Band wird seinem guten Ruf durchaus gerecht. Ich muss nur die High Fantasy-Elemente ein wenig rausnehmen und ein bisschen Piraten-Flavour einbauen. Wenn das Ganze gut wird, dann könnte dies der Startschuss für eine Reihe mit Stadtabenteuern im Flecken-Setting werden.

Zur späten Stunde gibt es dann noch eine Runde Chronogaiden: Sunflower. Ich mag diesen eigenwilligen Tunnel Goons-Ableger einfach zu sehr. Das Spiel kombiniert den Team-Mechanismus des Vorgänger Yokai Hunter Club mit einem Cosmic Horror-Setting, das in einem fiktiven Japan der 1990er Jahre angesiedelt ist. Dieses Mal müssen die Investigatoren ein rießigen Sonnenblumen-Feld durchstreifen, um einen verwunschenen Zirkus auf die Spur zu kommen.

Zufälligerweise ist gerade auch ein Chronogaiden-Jam auf Itch gestartet, an dem ich dann wohl teilnehmen muss.

Am Sonntagmorgen werde ich dann schließlich Abyss of Hallucinations anbieten. Was für ein Biest! Die Umsetzung des Buch der Lügen von Aleister Crowley als Fantasy-Abenteur auf Mörk Borg-Basis. Satanic Panic Galore! Das Ganze ist extrem seltsam zu lesen und ich bin echt gespannt, wie sich das Ganze spielt.

Ich hoffe man sieht sich in Osnabrück!

The #BundleOfHolding has a deal up for #MorkBorg, #CY_BORG, and #PirateBorg - I think it's the full lines for like $25.

Mork Borg and the extended family are extremely _a vibe_ and are well worth checking out just from a visual presentation level, even for folks who don't expect to get them on the table or try to use them as actual game references. Plus, they've got that OSR-y approach of tons of random tables and ideas.

CY_BORG is my favorite of these.

I think it's worth me doing a new #Introduction:

Hi! I'm Chris! I write code, I make things, and I parent.

My posts are generally about a few key areas: #Programming, #HamRadio, #TTRPG and #Parenting.

As far as programming, I mostly focus on #DotNet #CSharp professionally, with a smattering of #WebDev using #TypeScript. For my "not professional" development, I do a lot of #GameDev in #Godot (usually using C#, though not always!), and I adore #FunctionalProgramming, particularly in #FSharp, but also in many other languages! I stream software and game development on Twitch at twitch.tv/b4ux1t3. The schedule on there is not currently correct (January 2025), but should be soon.

When it comes to ham radio, I mostly focus on #DigitalModes, though I do a little bit of #POTA and #SOTA (well, I want to, anyway!). I'm a big user of #APRS and #PacketRadio. I try to be active on #YSF via the inimitable KJ7OMO@mastodon.radio's (edit: removed the mention here to prevent accidental mentions!) pride radio network, though mostly I listen. If you'd like my callsign, feel free to DM me. I do not list it publicly, but I'm not shy about handing it out in a more private setting.

Regarding TTRPG, I'm mostly a forever GM who runs #ShadowdarkRPG, #BladesInTheDark, #MorkBorg and #Mausritter, though I love most #OSR games and often mix and match rules and stuff. I don't _hate_ #DnD, #dnd5e or otherwise, it's just not the sort of thing I enjoy running. I also GM professionally on startplaying.games/gm/b4ux1t3!
