This is the northern stretch of the trail before it climbs up into the Sandia Mountains. Trailhead is southwest of Placitas.
For those not familiar, this rolling grassland of piñon and juniper trees is very typical of New Mexico. Elevation here is approximately 7000' (2100m.)
