LkdcI feel like I have one foot in each of two parallel universes.There's one universe in which Musk and Trump are forbidding DEI, firing many of my neighbors, betraying Ukraine, being careless with the United States' nuclear arsenal, and labeling anyone who doesn't support them "treasonous". This universe is terrifying.There's another universe in which the Washington DC city government is continuing as before. I just saw a city employee wearing a shirt with a civil rights slogan on it. Other city employees declare their pronouns. The city just celebrated Black History Month. Nothing has changed since the election. There's a sense of unreality. Which universe is real? Will the BOWSER Act be passed by Congress, bringing the city I love under the control of fascists? Or will the city remain as it is, split between blocks under federal control and blocks under local control?
