Read the latest #PureOS Crimson development update by @purism:

puri.sm/posts/pureos-crimson-d

Only three issues left until installable alpha images for the upgraded operating system for your #Librem5.

The Librem 5 is a #Linux phone that gives freedom to the user. Freedom as in #FOSS.

This development is also supported by the totally optional PureOS subscriptions.

Thanks to all who worked or paid to make this progress possible.

Always great to read this technical reports!

Purism · PureOS Crimson Development Report: May 2025 – PurismPurism makes premium phones, laptops, mini PCs and servers running free software on PureOS. Purism products respect people's privacy and freedom while protecting their security.

Kein Schimmer, was da los ist.

@kkeijzer
mijn telefoon.

@triskelion @purism I appreciate what GrapheneOS and other projects are doing. I wish gOS good luck in:
- getting early access to future #AOSP sources as development is no longer public.
- fixing the myriad of #Google shenanigans with the OS and Chromium.
- getting mental health help for the main developer - he deserves all the help he can get.

Unlike gOS, #Linuxphone development is not riding on decades of Google funded development of the OS. Progress is therefore slower but it is improving gradually.

Besides #PureOS, there is also #Mobian and #postmarketOS - I especially look forward to the latter's future #ImmutableOS version which would have security benefits as well.

@hanscees I read the review now, and I'm a very similar kind of user as the person that wrote the review. I'm not using #Wayland on my #Librem5. For #Signal I use the desktop version that is installed as a #flatpak. If you can accept some inconvenience to have more #freedom and #privacy, the Librem 5 is an excellent choice. Indeed, there are stil some rough edges, but the software keeps improving and work towards a new release of #PureOS is progressing. For me the Librem 5 is an excellent phone.

We have setup our first bounty as part of #dephcom (we started as #debphoshfund but Open Source Collective suggested a name change and community picked the new name via a poll).

If you have a Librem 5 and you'd like more choice with Operating System, especially newer versions of software than currently being shipped in PureOS #byzantium or even upcoming #crimson please support.
