COVID numbers are going up, but #flu and #RSV cases continue to drop in #NYC. We still don't have accurate hospitalization numbers for #influenza and #RSVirus here, but it looks like the overall risk of hospitalization and death from acute airborne infectious diseases is dropping.

I'm going to plan for indoor dining and singing, and maybe travel, but as long as this many people are dying and being hospitalized I'll #WearAMask in elevators, trains, doctor's offices, pharmacies and supermarkets!

Influenza positive test results in NYC Highlights for week ending March 29, 2025 (Week 13) 4,465 specimens were positive for influenza, a 18% decrease from the previous week; 23% were positive for influenza 409 specimens were positive for RSV, a 12% decrease from the previous week. Influenza-like illness visits were at 6% of all weekly visits. There was one influenza-associated pediatric death reported this week. Cases of #flu and #RSV in #NYC continue to fall, a week or two later than they did last year. Unfortunately, cases and hospitalizatios of #COVID are going up.

I'm going to be pissed if we have a full-blown Spring #COVID19 wave and I have to start moving karaoke online, after months of not singing in person to avoid spreading #influenza and #RSVirus!

While there are meaningful numbers of people being hospitalized for airborne diseases, I #WearAMask in elevators, trains and doctors' offices!

i'm always extra-incensed by the extreme disconnect my entire queer theories or sexuality studies classes operate from around covid! we can talk about hiv/aids, informed consent, eugenics, etc all the while everyone in the room is maskless & there is always at least one coughing someone was talking about feeling safe in queer spaces w/their multiple marginalized identities, which is very real! but even still it's ironically not inclusive to further marginalized folks. so vexed by the incessant disconnect so i had to share this:

folks really gotta start questioning how radical they really are because not being covid cautious during this mass disabling event is at odds with being inclusive, accessible, intentional, community oriented, creating safe space, practicing consent, siding with the marginalized.

I'm 55+, and I rarely encounter commercials.

I do know that I need a doctor to prescribe the #HPV vax for people my age. Which is annoying af, because anyone can contract HPV, and I only recently heard that men are advised to get if if they are sexually active (I'm not, currently, though I anticipate sexing with someone in the future).

Meanwhile, my #pharmacy is pestering me to get the #RSV vax. Which, I'm not certain I'm particularly at risk of either catching it or transmitting it. The #university I applied to doesn't have a checkbox on the application for "not in the demographic that is required to get a #meningitis vax."

I'm on #marketplace insurance. I don't object to #vaccinations , but any that require me to pay for them may be delayed.

Die "Durchseuchungsraten" bei #KiTas, #Kindergärten und #Tagesheimen im Winterhalbjahr sind unnötig und nicht länger tragbar.

Es geht hierbei nicht nur um #Covid, sondern auch um #Influenza und #RSV sowie grippale..

Also frustrated that the #NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene still isn't releasing accurate hospitalization counts for #flu and #RSV, but it looks like the case counts are finally down to relatively low levels - below 8,000 for #influenza and below 700 for #rsvirus!

I think I finally feel comfortable hosting karaoke in person next week, for the first time this year!

But as long as there are lots of people suffering and dying, I still #WearAMask in trains, buses and doctors' offices!
