I'm soon-to-be 30 years old, I live between fRance, Switzerland and Germany. I'm sadly still in multiple french police files due to my radical activism from a few years back.

I tend to report, block bigots at first sight and have zero tolerance against racism. But I believe I can be a friendly internet neighbour and your follow requests are always welcome! 👋🏻

Hello!

I wanted for some time to join a somewhat big #Mastodon instance not hosted in Europe. I recently found a friend who made their fediverse home here so I decided to apply for an account and migrate.

After 8 years spent on Mastodon, I know the limits of the #fediverse quite well and I'm pretty cynical about it, but I think it's still important such spaces exist.

Ich hab mal an Barrierefreiheit mit rumgewerkelt, bin von Geburt an blind, habe zwei Katzen und eine Frau, wir wohnen im schönen Hamburg, ich bin inzwischen Rentner und treibe mich also nur zum Spaß hier herum. On February 18th, 2020 I posted first on Instagram. Two days ago I started Pixelfed and I want to introduce myself.

Italian born and raised, nonno (=grandpa), married to a kind man, raising our grandchildren together. I believe that cooking at home is key to a better life and that being kind to everyone regardless of their provenience and provenance is key to a better world. Love first.

Because of a hidden disability, pain and fatigue are part of my days and part of what I am. I had many surgeries and there will be more. Each day I wake up and wonder, what will I manage to do today? If I do not do something or I cancel a meeting at the last minute it is not because "I do not care" but it is because I have to dose my active time carefully and the little ones have priority.

Cooking is my meditation time. I tell the little ones that cooking is magical and they named me the Emperor of the Kitchen. I enjoy seeing them learning how to make easier dishes for now, and rejoice when they ask questions about how to make a meal healthy while eating everything.

charts - The Yellowstone trophic cascade in context. Wolves were introduced into Yellowstone in 1995 and 1996. Between 2001 and 2020, estimated average willow crown volume in northern Yellowstone rose from approximately 0.30 m3 to 4.80 m3 (A; error bars indicate 95 % confidence intervals). This change corresponds to a log10 response ratio of 1.21 (B), which is substantially greater than the response ratios observed in many other studies (C). Willow crown volume was calculated using height data from Cooper and Hobbs (2023) and the crown volume model from Kauffman and Cummings (2024). Except for Yellowstone willows, average log10 ratios by system type were obtained from a trophic cascade meta-analysis of plant biomass studies (Borer et al., 2005); sample sizes are shown in parentheses; error bars represent one standard error of the mean (C).

In 2020, willow heights outside the fence averaged 165 cm while willows fully protected from ungulate herbivory inside the fence were 195 cm in height (18 % taller). The fence was constructed in 2001 and removed by the spring of 2021. The similarity, in this example, between inside and outside the exclosure in 2021 is consistent with the strong trophic cascade quantified in the full time-series dataset. These chronosequence photographs should be considered examples only, but they do indicate that tall willows, with greatly increased crown volumes, had become relatively common along the valley bottom and floodplains of Blacktail Creek.

when deleting my protonmail I stumbled upon this account.
I am not sure, when i connected with people from sunbeam city, or just created an account in 2019, but I think I stumbled here through scuttlebutt.
I've been around the fediverse a couple of years on different accounts now, and am considering moving (back) here.
I mostly re post things from the infosec bubble and occasionally post (silly) thoughts, images or videos.

Hello, I'm a programmer and data engineer from Iowa, USA with a background in transportation logistics and agriculture. I specialize in enterprise-scale geospatial analysis solutions. In my 30+ year career I've done desktop applications, web sites, embedded development, vehicular/mobility integration, industrial telematics, mobile development, healthcare telemetry and devops/platform engineering. Mostly these days I do Python and Golang with a bit of JavaScript and rust for fun. I'm a Linux user since 1994 and FOSS advocate.

I've been on the fediverse since October of 2022 but have recently changed instances due to my previous instance's imminent closure. For fun I like to cook and do amateur woodworking, and play PC games. I'm politically left of center. I believe in freedom and respect for all people. I do not believe in religious wars: Star Wars AND Star Trek are both great, vi AND emacs are both terrible. (Neovim is my IDE, and I'm sorry.)

I just moved instances and thought I'd reintroduce myself. I was born in 1973, and live in Hamburg, Germany. German is my primary language, with English a close second. I'm blind from birth. I'm also the owner of two cats, a previous guide dog owner, and able cane user. ;-) Also, I enjoy music, audio books, mostly in the fantasy and science fiction genres. Podcast listening and occasional creation are also things I enjoy. Some sports and swimming, too. I have a life partner, am bisexual, and also diagnosed with autism at the age of 46. So yeah, quite a package here.

Nowadays, I enjoy talking about tech, however I refrain from talking about my former work if possible. I'm totally anchored in the Apple eco system, with devices such as an iPhone, iPad, and one or two Macs in my household. Oh and yeah an Apple Watch, too.
