Ed Nico<p>For anyone asking why? </p><p>1. I value my notes being mine too much, which puts <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/tana" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tana</span></a> out of contention. </p><p>2. I like writing in outline, but also in long form which puts <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>logseq</span></a> out of the question.</p><p>There are also some other issues with Tana and Logseq that are for another day</p><p>3. I need my notes synced across my devices and want this to be secure, which puts <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a> out of contention. </p><p>4. I need something reliable and quick.</p><p>Interesting time ahead.</p>
nhan<p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a> does this best. I haven't used it for 2 years but RemNote has a prompt to prevent you deleting referenced block right from the beginning.</p>
Mark McElroy<p>Saw my first <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a> reference today. </p><p>So, is the primary appeal or key feature of <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Remnote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Remnote</span></a> the flashcard-centric nature of the app?</p>
Aadam<p>Hello everyone, let me briefly introduce myself. I'm a Computer Science graduate, planning to do a PhD in Bioinformatics this Fall, and I like to explore different <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/ToolsForThought" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolsForThought</span></a>. </p><p>Primarily I'm an <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>obsidian</span></a> user, but I've also tried <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>logseq</span></a>, <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/RemNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RemNote</span></a>, <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Notion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Notion</span></a>, <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Roam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Roam</span></a>, etc. Currently, I'm exploring <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Tana" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tana</span></a> and <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/AnyType" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnyType</span></a>, and I'm quite excited about their potential once they're publicly released.</p><p>Looking forward to engaging with the <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/PKM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PKM</span></a> community here and having some constructive discussions.</p>
defaultvlan :verified:<p>I tried a lot already. My current favorite is <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Logseq</span></a>, though I’m beginning to notice that „offline first“ has its drawbacks too.</p><p>Before I tried <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/remnote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>remnote</span></a> which is really good for spaced repetition, but was a little buggy many month ago.</p><p>I used <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/notion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>notion</span></a> which is really good but I missed layered „bullet points“ and was suspicious of their „too good to be true“ free and lower tier business model.</p><p>I used <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/workflowy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>workflowy</span></a>, but it was too basic in functionality.</p><p>I tried <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/anytype" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anytype</span></a> which is too alpha + hard requirement for local client.</p><p>I haven’t spend much time with <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>obsidian</span></a>, it looks really good but also no web interface and if I wanted to use it on a work issued notebook I’d have to ask my boss for a license.</p><p>I tried <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/dendron" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dendron</span></a>, it was interesting but wasn’t good with media embeds (years ago).</p><p>My dream <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/PKM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PKM</span></a> is <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosted</span></a> optionally, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/markdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>markdown</span></a> capable, browser accessible, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/PrivacyFirst" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrivacyFirst</span></a>, code highlighting, spaced repetition learning features and a clever concept on how to integrate bigger size attachments. I think it doesn’t exist yet. What comes closest is <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>logseq</span></a></p>
