Six months ago, Missouri voters approved an amendment to the state constitution that enshrined their right to abortion. Republican lawmakers have now approved a new referendum that would seek the amendment's repeal and ban most abortions, with exceptions for rape and incest. "Republican senators used a series of rare procedural moves to cut off discussion by opposing Democrats before passing the proposed abortion-rights revision by a 21-11 vote. The measure passed the Republican-led House last month," according to @AssociatedPress. Here's more.

Poilievre’s greatest strength as party leader is his absolute control over his MP’s communications; they are forbidden to speak on policy matters—especially those that might not resonate with voters. He trusts very few people to speak for the party and those that are permitted to are carefully stage-managed and speak only in scripted talking points.

Poilievre’s strategy is to distract voters with rage-bait sloganeering, while deftly sleepwalking them into voting against their own self-interest.

"If you ask the leader, they'll tell you they're pro-choice," said Rayes. "They'll affirm it, in an attempt to placate people who feel strongly, people trying to attack the Conservative Party.
"But that's not where the problem is. The problem is that you have, inside the organization, extremely powerful groups, members who are at the conventions and who influence the policies."

He said those members put the party in a position where it has to publicly reject calls to legislate abortion while making room for people within the party who are working hard to restrict it.
