Watching the first episode of Route 66 and I really love it. It is creepy about a near ghost town entirely owned by one man, action packed with multiple fistfights, and some of the ethos and monologues are about as counter-cultural as you can get in this day and age.

Gallup's history began well before the city was founded in 1881 as a headquarters for the southern transcontinental rail route. The area was on a Native American trade route long before the City itself came along, once known as Na'Nizhoozhi, or "The Bridge" among the Navajo/Dine' people.

I have spent a lot of time wandering Gallup over the last few years. The town is known for being rough around the edges, but there is ample small town charm, friendly folks, and LOTS to see/do in the area.
2.2-mile out-and-back trail at Red Rock Park. Wonderful views as you ascend towards the spire.
