Première rencontre avec un pygargue à queue blanche [First encounter with a white-tailed eagle, english version below]
L'observation des oiseaux, c'est à la fois une histoire de patience mais aussi une question de chance et de hasard. Si je n'avais pas bifurqué de mon itinéraire classique, je ne serais jamais tombé sur ce rapace en train de voler au dessus d'un étang.
Cette rencontre (à distance) est exceptionnelle là où j'ai vu le pygargue car l'espèce est devenue très rare. Notamment à cause de la chasse à outrance et de la destruction des milieux dans lesquels elle habite.
Et oui, l'observation des oiseaux ce n'est pas qu'un loisir, c'est aussi un révélateur des politiques et impacts humains.

This encounter (at a distance) is exceptional where I've seen the eagle because the species has become very rare. In particular because of over-hunting and the destruction of the environments in which it lives.
And yes, birdwatching isn't just a hobby, it's also a way of revealing human policies and impacts.

Lady Sea Eagle lays her first egg

On a beautiful winter's afternoon in Sydney, Lady arrived at the nest around 2:15pm and about 16 minutes later she was all done!

Sea Eagle Launching

Went for a short drive to see if any black swans were about on the estuary - nope. Kept driving a short distance and spotted this eagle just sitting in a tree by the side of the road.

Not that sharp with the 2x teleconverter.

A Momma Osprey and her 3 fledgling offspring were in the middle of having a snack when I spotted them high in a Norfolk Island Pine tree. Left to right in this family portrait … daughter, son, Momma, daughter. Always love to see and photograph the Osprey’s.
