Overjoyed to be able to pick up #RadioHabanaCuba on shortwave tonight. After more than a year of the signal being pretty much either absent or unintelligible (my understanding was the result of hurricane damage and long-deferred maintenance), it is coming in strong tonight at 6000 khz.

With Trump suing news media whose coverage he doesn't like, I'm concerned that US news media are inreasingly going to practice self-censorship. For now, people in the US will be able to get uncensored news by reading non-US news media online. However, it is conceivable that the US might try to put in place something similar to China's Great Firewall.
If that happens, radio might be our last means of gaining uncensored information. I've long heard about Europeans huddling around radios listening to Radio Free Europe or Radio Liberty, and am envisioning the same kind of thing happening in reverse, with free Europeans broadcasting to Americans living under dictatorship.
If that happens, will regular radios be sufficient, or will we need shortwave radios or other special equipment?
