📺 Now watching :blobcatanime:

Yesterday, bestie and I started watching the Sky TV series "Lockerbie", m.imdb.com/title/tt31029686/.

As the name suggests (full name is "Lockerbie: a search for truth), it's based on the events that happened in December 1988, with the plane crash at Lockerbie. And it follows the story of a dad of one of the people that died, Dr. Jim Swire (portrayed by Colin Firth).

I had heard about the events, but as I was only 8 at the time, and the news was a lot different than how it is today, I didn't really know too much a out it. Just that there was a bomb on a plane and it crashed, killing almost 300 people.

I'm in episode 3 now, out of 5, and it's very interesting so far. Absolutely horrible, but also very interesting.

Some info from Wikipedia on the crash/events and the series:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Am
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locker

If you are interested in things like this, and you have access to the series, it could be worth a watch.

Anybody else watching MTV/Paramount's MobLand?
Cast includes the monumental Tom Hardy, the never sufficiently appreciated Pierce Brosnan, and international treasure Helen Mirren, all giving bravura performances. A whole troupe of British character actors you'll recognize as well.
This action-packed show economically reveals each characters' character -- or lack thereof -- by a kind of deft shorthand.
Like mob action? This is 4 U.
2 thumbs and 2 big toes up!

I have only seen Series 1 & 2 so far, so NO SPOILERS BEYOND THAT!

I have rarely been so impressed as I am with the quality of writing and production for this series. Viola Davis’ acting is especially nuanced and multi-levelled, with colours being employed in a complexity that is occasionally gasp-inducing.

The students become better as the first year progresses, with them all being quite excellent by this point.

Very highly recommended!

watched a few episodes of The Blacklist in the tub after getting it floated into my timeline

1) realized I watched it when it first came out and didn't care for it. Still don't care for it. just not for me.

2) knowing by cultural osmosis who James Spader's character is, it's fascinating how blatantly they were hinting at it in the first few episodes. it's my understanding this was revealed years later, and there it is nearly spelled out on the screen.

I just finished a rewatch of Star Wars Andor Season 1, before starting Season 2.

Damn. I'd forgotten exactly how great this show is. By far the best of the all series. No surprise really since I consider Rogue One easily the best of the movies, with The Empire Strikes Back as a strong second.

In fact, Rogue One is on my top 10 movies list.

Looking forward to start on Andor Season 2.
