In a vividly verdant forest, a pair of mighty tall and broad tree trunks climb up from a shared root base. Their bark has a rough deep texture. Both are caked with thick pads of moss clustered irregularly around the bark.

In der Eiche

Die Fotografin steht unter den ausladenden Ästen einer großen, alten Eiche auf einer saftigen grünen Wiese mit dem Rücken zum Baumstamm, sodass der Eindruck entsteht , in einer Art Höhle zu sein. Durch die üppig leuchtend grün belaubten Äste, die von oben, rechts und links bis fast auf die Erde ins Bild ragen, ist ein heller Himmel zu sehen.

Dieselbe Szene aus einer leicht anderen Perspektive. Zwei etwas schmalere Äste ragen von rechts oberhalb ins Bild und hängen bis fast zum Boden hinab. Laubwerk und Wiese scheinen in ihrer Üppigkeit nahezu miteinander zu verschmelzen.

The same scene from a slightly different perspective. Two somewhat narrower branches protrude into the picture from the top right and hang down almost to the ground. The lush foliage and meadow almost seem to merge together.

Derselbe Baum, wieder eine andere Perspektive. Diesmal hängen drei etwas schmalere, üppig belaubte Äste so von oben und rechts ins Bild, dass ein kleines Loch entsteht, das den Blick auf die dahinter liegende, helle Wiese frei gibt.

The same tree, another perspective. This time, three somewhat narrower, lushly leafy branches hang into the picture from above and to the right in such a way that a small hole is created, revealing a view of the light-coloured meadow behind.

A very old beech with a thick trunk and thick branches standing in front of a white house (this is in the centre of the city.) To prevent people from touching and maybe harming the tree there is a kind of fence built around it. To my eye, the fence is a bit to close to the tree, but it seems in perfect health, so who am I to judge?) The floor before the fence is cobblestoned.

Back in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK to check out the reopened Royal Oak pub (which had six delicious cask ales on offer) but couldn't resist a photo of the parish church with its incredible crooked spire and two beautiful red flowered horse chestnut trees in the foreground.

Fotografie eines abgetrennten Birkenstammes. Der Stumpf steht rechts im Bild und wird nach rechts sogar vom Bildrand abgeschnitten. Die Borke ist rauh und dunkelgrau, aber wie für Birken typisch mit glatten weißen Flächen überzogen. Am linken Fuß des Baumstumpfes, in der Bildmitte, ist eine große Fläche von grünem Moos. Auf das Moos und einen kleinen Teil des Stammes fällt ein Sonnenstrahl, der das Moos grün-gelb und die Birkenrinde weiß aufleuchten lässt. Im Hintergrund sind unscharf grüne Blätter, braune Stämme und blauer Himmel durchmischt zu erahnen.
